POSITION SUMMARY: Ginzton Laboratory has an exciting opportunity to join our research administration and financial management team. We are seeking a Research Accounting Associate to work under general supervision of the Research and Administration Manager to assist in overseeing the pre and post award activities on grants, contracts, federal and non-federal grants, both routine and complex. This is a busy position requiring a high level of professionalism, productivity, accuracy, initiative, sound judgement and decision making, attention to detail and follow-through. We are seeking an individual with a background in accounting, strong work ethic, excellent communication and technical skills, a collaborative problem-solver, and who interacts well with all levels in a culturally diverse population. This position will also work closely with the Grant Managers who directly support the financial portfolio of 20 active faculty members and emeriti. CORE DUTIES:
Assist in the preparation of routine proposals within parameters of sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines both paper and electronic; review documents for completeness and compliance.
Contribute towards development and preparation of project budgets and budget justification.
Serve as liaison and active partner between Grant Managers and other departments such as the Financial Support Center or Payroll to resolve issues
Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly, including cost-sharing awards if applicable.
Review and understand the terms and conditions of sponsored projects administered, including linked/footnoted terms and conditions not provided in hard copy or electronic copy.
Perform detailed monthly reconciliations reviewing all expenses salary and non-salary, generating formal report that is utilized by Grant Managers and Faculty in project planning
Develop and communicate reports supporting project status; create effective and complex forecasting and decision aides under guidance.
Participate in contract closeout process and audit inquiries; submit final reports and certificates.
Participate in and contribute to process improvements. Lead other staff in group projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and one year of job related experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of governmental regulations.
Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures.
Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
Excellent analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency in Excel and web-based tools.
Strong accounting skills; knowledge of accounting principles.
Ability to complete Cardinal Curriculum I and II within first year in role
Knowledge of procurement needs, including sole-sourcing, cost analysis, vendor requirements, and small business reporting.
Competency in project management.
Extreme attention to detail.
Ability to work well independently, but also to seek or offer assistance when needed.
Ability to review a proposal or manage a project with understanding of the overall scope and goal of each sponsored project.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Certifications and Licenses:
Cardinal Curriculum I and II must be completed to remain in this position.
Certified Accountant or Auditor or similar credential desired.
Rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 11-20 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $32.69 - $40.87 per hour.
