We are seeking a Construction Cost Estimator/Cost Engineer for our proven project management team to support our federal agency clients in the Washington DC area (Arlington, VA). Candidates must have a thorough understanding of construction means and methods and be able to successfully develop construction cost estimates for horizontal and vertical construction projects.
Minimum five (5) years commercial/federal construction cost estimating experience.
Expertise in engineering, construction, construction management, and cost estimating, or related field.
Effectively coordinate and work independently with the client and stakeholders to accurately identify and capture project requirements.
Ability to prepare Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE), budget/conceptual cost estimates and/or detail cost estimates at all phases of design.
Ability to perform facility programming cost support for long range planning.
Ability to prepare rough-order-magnitude estimates from limited information.
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and other design documents.
Ability to perform accurate detailed quantity take-offs, apply unit rates for labor, material, subcontracts, and other direct costs, apply labor resources and develop activities within the estimate.
Ability to attend and participate in onsite project review for construction
Multi-Discipline estimating experience.
Knowledge of construction market in area of operation including pricing conventions and trends.
Must have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
Must have excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Ability to work at our client office site in Arlington, VA.
Ability to obtain DOD Security Clearance.
Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification (or ability to achieve).
Senior Cost estimators should be able to lead estimate development efforts with small teams individually and as lead estimator.
Direct experience in commercial and military construction with the Department of Defense’s Military Construction and Civil Works, USACE, AFCEE, NAVFAC or DOE construction programs is desired.
Experience using MCACES (MII), PACES, Success, On Screen Takeoff, RS Means, Primavera, and/or other cost engineering applications.
Four-year college degree (B.S.) in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
