Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an on - call Hazard Mitigation Specialist nationwide to support disaster recovery programs.
This is an on - call position. Compensation is on an hourly basis, 0 - 40 hours per week, dependent on project needs.
Perform technical analyses and provide recommendations for mitigation measures
Develop cost - effective measures to eliminate or reduce future damages to damaged facilities – specifically, to reduce repetitive damage - to - damage public facilities
Evaluate effectiveness of mitigation measures that have been implemented in accordance with approved Hazard Mitigation Proposals
Ability to travel nationwide for extended periods of time (six to twelve months)
Ability to perform office / field work in austere conditions
Must be a US citizen
Must pass drug test, background check
Must be able to obtain a Federal Public Trust Clearance
Qualifications for the Entry Level Hazard Mitigation Specialist:
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or another related subject
2 years of experience in field of expertise
Qualifications for the Mid - Level Hazard Mitigation Specialist:
Undergraduate Degree in in Engineering, Architecture, or another related subject, with 5 years in field of expertise and professional registration (PE), or
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or another related subject with 10 years in field of expertise
Qualifications for the Senior Level Hazard Mitigation Specialist:
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or another related subject with 10 years in field of expertise and professional registration (PE), or
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or another related subject with 15 years in field of expertise
Preferred Qualifications (all levels):
Knowledge of and experience in mitigation project formulation, design, construction, alteration, development and / or repair of damaged property
Experience with FEMA programs, specifically 404 Mitigation or 406 Mitigation
Experience using RS Means and Cost Estimating Format (CEF)
Experience performing Benefit?Cost Analysis
Knowledge of, and experience with Building Code Standards
Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Building / Facility cost estimation expertise
Road and Bridge expertise
Building Structural Engineering expertise
Building Electrical Engineering expertise
Building Mechanical Engineering expertise
Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment expertise
Civil Engineering expertise
Water Resources Engineering / Hydrology expertise
Coastal Engineering expertise
