Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEProvide project management support to university customers on various university capital construction projects working with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, or managing minor projects independently. Assist in the development and delivery of projects from preliminary phase activities to construction completion.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssist in the planning, oversight, and coordination of all phases of design, construction and renovation for major and minor projects. Assist in the provision of overall project management on simultaneous projects while adhering to University priorities and guidelines and to ensure that projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications, applicable construction codes, as well as University standards. Assist in the processing of all construction pay applications and contracts in accordance with University practices and policies and procedures.Assist in the management of project flow from inception to project completion. Work with customers in the development of project conceptualization and design intent, the definition of work scope and assist in the development of cost estimates, project schedules and project budgets in accordance with university policies and procedures and customer requirements. Assist in the coordination of construction project delivery from concept to completion. Participate in the solicitation of architectural and engineering proposals to provide design services, prepare contract documents and participate in the oversight of job specific relationships. Participate in the bidding and construction phase activities for various capital renovation, new construction, or minor capital projects. Assist in the management of consulting design professionals and the development of project scope through bidding and award. Assist in the investigation of minor and customer funded project requests. Review and approve invoices related to project delivery. Prepare and maintain financial reports and records appropriate to assigned projects. Prepare minutes of meetings, performance reports, construction schedule status reports.Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.EXPERIENCEPrevious experience in institutional, health care or research laboratory construction.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESPLANNING AND ORGANIZATION: Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills.COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills are required. FINANCIAL SKILLS: Understanding basic construction financial management, accounting and cost analysis. Ability to manage ongoing construction budgets, including look-ahead items.TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Proficient in the use of current software such as Microsoft Office suite of programs and Microsoft Project.Ability to access equipment which may be at any height and angle from below ground level to several stories high. Ability to work in varying construction site conditions utilizing appropriate safety precautions.
