The Cloud Financial Analyst will support our investment in Cloud products and services. The analyst will perform detailed cost and financial analyses to drive business insights and decisions. The role is best suited for a motivated, enthusiastic individual who is excited about using his/her expertise in financial analysis in the emerging world of cloud technologies.
Under general direction, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring infrastructure costs to ensure adherence to client standards; recommending cost reduction measures to ensure optimal configuration from budgetary perspectives; performing infrastructure billing and optimization activities; maintaining cost information on a daily basis using third-party, or custom tools; preparing forward looking cost estimations to support client and project needs.

Perform detailed cost and financial analyses, develop and interpret detailed cost accounting information and make recommendations regarding the efficient utilization of resources and the proper accounting for transactions.
Provide advice to help maintain Infrastructure in Optimal Configuration from a budgetary perspective.
Assist in preparing cost analysis based on expected usage; investigate reported and suspected outage issues, documenting issue, resolution, maintaining knowledge base of known issues.
Perform specific tasks related to rate development, including identifying cost centers and their related expenses and calculated recovery rates (e.g., recharge, indirect cost), and prepares related reports.
Assist with the provision of advisory services to departments with respect to updating billing rates and interpreting cost accounting data.
Recommend alternative solutions to cost accounting problems.
Query data from a data warehouse for regular and ad-hoc administrative and financial reports and interprets the results.
Prepares standard accounting reports using and statements and also non-standard reports and statements, such as detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts and projections reflecting interrelationships of accounting data. Prepare or assists in preparation of special accounting studies by extracting data from data warehouse.
Interpret data and points out trends or deviations from standard.
Identify informational needs of management and revises or refines account structures or data accordingly.
Prepare intricate journal entries, maintains complex ledgers, prepares detailed cost accounting information, and reconciles and analyzes reports and ledgers.
Decide proper handling of financial transactions; approves transactions within designated limits.
Provide solutions to problems presented by staff and recommends changes to accounting system, methods or procedures to management, utilizing knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Interpret accounting data, analyzes reports and recommends action to be taken.
Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university regulations.
Review computer reports for errors or inconsistencies; investigates and corrects problem.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area (or a Bachelor's degree with advanced accounting coursework) AND two years of auditing, cost accounting and/or financial analysis experience; OR, Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration AND one year of auditing, cost accounting and/or financial analysis experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and coursework; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Experience in defining, documenting, and implementing project financial management practices and procedures based on prior experience and knowledge of industry best practices.
Experience with Amazon Web Services.
Demonstrated knowledge of technical and cloud-based terminology.
Experience in leveraging resource tagging to allocate costs and optimize resource planning.
Experience providing technical assistance in the design of cost accounting or reporting systems and related forms and documents.
Experience establishing, modifying, and coordinating the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
Experience performing specialized financial or cost analyses and preparing related reports
Experience handling cost accounting and inventory tasks within a technical field.
Experience with MyReports, Workday, Access queries, and macro development.
Experience working with PeopleSoft.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, especially Excel based programs.
Experience preparing detailed numerical computations and reports on a timely basis.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
CPA preferred, but not required
Experience in establishing priorities, multitasking, assisting others and maintaining effective working relationships.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communications skills.
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
