AID presents an exciting opportunity to work for a growing yet established consulting firm located in central New Jersey, offering professional services in non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of highway infrastructure (bridges and pavements), pavement evaluation and design, geotechnical design and subsurface investigation, subsurface and utility mapping, and forensic studies. AID owns and operates an array of NDT equipment, including a Laser Crack Measurement System (LCMS), Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), various air-launched and ground-coupled Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) antennas, and many others such as a high-speed profiler and walking profilers. In addition, AID runs its own soils, asphalt, and concrete materials testing laboratory.
This is a full-time position with full benefits for a qualified pavement engineer. The candidate should have a B.S.C.E. degree or higher with thorough knowledge of pavement engineering principles. He/she should be well-versed with pavement evaluation and design, including the 1993 AASHTO Pavement Design Guide, the AASHTO Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide, and Pavement-ME. Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
The immediate responsibilities of the successful candidate may include but not be limited to QA/QC of pavement engineering design projects as well as executing such projects. These projects typically involve conducting site reconnaissance visits and performing visual pavement condition surveys; evaluating the existing condition of pavements; analyzing conventional and non-destructive test data (e.g., analysis of LCMS and GPR data, backcalculation of FWD data, etc.); developing pavement design recommendations; compiling cost estimates; performing Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) and Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA); and, preparing technically and grammatically sound project reports. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in preparing proposals and assisting in other areas of need.
B.S. or higher degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical or pavements background
At least 5 years of pavement engineering work experience (with references)
Proficiency in technical writing and verbal communications
Proficiency in MS Office suite
Proficiency in concrete materials behavior (not required, but please mention if applicable)
