Directs the Carpentry, Millwork and Painting activities for the University. Manages and coordinates activities of a variety of trade personnel engaged in the maintenance and renovation of University buildings and property to include carpenters, painters, millworkers and other trades mechanics when required. Supports the Senior Managers in the re-engineering of workforce productivity and efficiency improvements to meet the changing requirements of office, teaching, biomedical research and clinical space. Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)
Required Skill/ability 1: Strong knowledge base in the standard practices and methods of the carpentry, millwork and painting profession.
Required Skill/ability 2: Proven ability to manage and coordinate activities of staff engaged in planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair work, construction and renovation projects, and shop operations.
Required Skill/ability 3: Proven ability to evaluate completed projects, formulate a cost analysis of materials and labor versus project estimates and to prepare reports and documentation as required.
Required Skill/ability 4: Well developed supervisory skills including ability with progressive discipline and performance feedback.
Required Skill/ability 5: Proven ability to maintain, manage and prepare scheduling, word processing, and spreadsheet documents and reports.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Experience in an academic institutional, research or medical facilities setting. Experience working in a unionized environment.
Required Licenses Or Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree. Seven years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and trades-related experience.
