Cotton Belt Regional Rail, Dallas Texas --- Program consists of approx. 26 miles of rail transit with tunnels and 11 stations
The Estimating Engineer assists the project in the development of accurate, timely and detailed cost estimates on large, complex heavy civil and mechanical construction projects. The Estimating Engineer supports delivery of properly organized estimates, budgets and schedules, including managing project risk. The Estimating Engineer will be responsible for independently determining accurate quantity surveys, preparation of subcontractor and vendor work scopes and quote analyses. The Estimating Engineer must be able to meet critical deadlines and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Collect scope of change interpret and analyze project drawings and technical specifications, proposals and other documentation;
Responsible for the assisting in the preparation and documentation of project estimate using estimating software, following estimating industry policy and procedures;
Independently analyze and compare contractor, subcontractor and vendor quotations. Liaise with contractor, subcontractor and vendor for clarification of issues and scope, help management with negotiation of COs etc;
Independently perform research for means and methods, materials, costs and construction techniques and services
Track of commodities, price indices, escalation etc.
Identify variances in unit cost, productivity;
Perform accurate quantity take-offs Independently using best practices to produce an accurate estimate of labor, material, equipment, subcontractors and general conditions;
Work closely with other members of Project Team
Proficiency with MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
Working knowledge of Estimating/Engineering software
Ability to read and understand drawings and technical specifications;
Ability to define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and present solutions;
Effective written and verbal communication skills;
Good attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies;

MUST BE LEGALLY AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES
Typically, three- five (3-5) years’ experience in Infrastructure projects, Procurement and Construction in the field of Project Cost Engineering for a candidate possessing the below educational preference
Ability to follow direction with limited supervision.
Bachelors or equivalent degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
