Position Summary: Under general direction, plans, manages, supports, and executes large scale and/or complex IT projects across the campus, while promoting the understanding of Project Management principles across the IT organization. Responsible for all aspects of the planning, development and implementation of assigned projects; provides a single point of contact for all constituents serving as the project lead/liaison. Makes procedural improvements and implements new processes to create efficiency within the Project Management Office. Coordinates with managers and directors in both technical and functional areas to obtain required resources. Develops detailed work plan and schedules, provides projected cost and personnel estimates, and status reports; ensures adherence to quality standards, reviewing project deliverables, and project tracking and analysis. Manages the integration of vendor tasks; tracks and reviews deliverables related to projects. Defines project scope, objectives and success indicators and manages projects from original concept through final implementation. Develops policies and procedures to support the project and manage risks based on understanding of organizational strategy and goals. Provides guidance to project teams and makes recommendations based on the analysis of complex problems. Trains other staff in technical complexities of assigned work.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with at least seven (7+) years of project management experience. Strong understanding of the Project Management Life Cycle and an ability to demonstrate the use of multiple PM methodologies. Expertise managing large projects with high complexity with an emphasis on technological components. Strong MS Office suite skills and proficient project management tools knowledge (MS Project, etc.) and Internet based management of projects (WBS/Visio, etc.). In-depth knowledge and understanding of discipline specific information technologies. Knowledge of process improvement, cost analysis techniques and public institution purchasing principles, procedures, bid law regulations and standards. Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships within project teams and across the organization. Excellent written skills. Possesses the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to non-technical customers.
