The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applications for the position of PeopleSoft Developer. The PeopleSoft Developer will be responsible for supporting the ongoing production support activities related to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. The applications analyst will play an active role in the configuration, design, development, testing, and management of PeopleSoft applications within the Campus Solutions module and related applications. Duties include the following:
Providing effort estimates for development work.
Delivering effective solutions on time, within budget and in adherence to development and quality standards.
Complying with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management life cycle methodologies by participating in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis. Development of technical specifications and modification documentation.
Facilitating appropriate knowledge transfer within the team and business offices.
Supporting Admissions, Financial Aid and related applications as part of larger team. Provide technical analysis to design application solutions based on functional specifications that will meet identified business functions.
Program and implement applications/services that meet all design specifications and business functional needs.
Develop and execute test plans and scripts.
Implement and test configuration changes as directed, write queries and execute SQL.
Assist in trouble-shooting and resolving customer trouble tickets and reported application issues, assist in providing on-call support.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or - Bachelor’s degree and some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or - Associate’s degree in Computer Programming and one year of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional one year of experience. - Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.
Experience with one or more PeopleSoft applications (Campus Solutions, Human Resources or Financials).
Provide technical development support through full project life cycle from discovery of requirements through implementation and go live.
Strong knowledge of the PeopleSoft Toolset: Application Designer, Application Engine, Component Interfaces, PeopleCode, Application packages and SQR.
Strong SQL development skills with experience writing complex SQL routines; must have SQL experience.
This position includes working with PeopleSoft Query, Data Mover and File Layout.
Selected candidate must have PeopleSoft programming skills including experience in developing custom pages and processes using various PeopleSoft provided tools and assigning security to custom built modules using Menus, Permission Lists, Roles and User Profiles.
Experience writing multiple and complex reports using PeopleSoft reporting utilities.
BA/BS in computer science with 3 – 5 years of IT experience, with 3- 7 years of PeopleSoft technical development or equivalent work experience.
3 – 5 years of SQL experience strongly preferred.
Extensive technical knowledge of one or more PeopleSoft applications gained through participation in an enterprise implementation is strongly preferred.
Prior University or Higher Education experience highly desired.
Experience with PeopleSoft Component Interface, Integration Broker, XML publisher and Application Messaging highly desirable.
Demonstrated Conversion and interface experience a plus.
